Chaos wearing Lipgloss' Glamcess to.... Blog Awards Ireland 2015

"God only makes happy endings. If it's not happy, its not the end"

My face even trended!

So as you know, last week I attended the Blog Awards Ireland 2015. I had been waiting weeks for this event as I was a first a Longlister, then Shortlister and the a Finalist in the "Best Lifestyle" Category. Sadly, I didn't place in this years awards. I'm not gonna lie, I was gutted, like other finalists there too. However, I went home and had to tell myself that it's not the end of the world. Obviously I had high hopes to place somewhere, naturally. I was sincerely blown away by every tweet, message, like or share from anyone since I became on the longlist. But, I've realised now, I don't need an award to classify myself as a good blogger. Of course, we all wanted to win, to get that recognition that we are good bloggers and we are good at what we do. I just had to reassure myself, I wouldn't have got some of the amazing opportunities in the past few months if I wasn't a good blogger- so I must be doing something right! Just because I didn't an award, it hasn't stopped me thinking of what's the next big thing for Chaos wearing Lipgloss. I know there is more big things to come, I can feel it in my bones! Ok, back to the Glamcess.

For those of you who were and weren't following my glamcess, it's a mashup of the words "glam" and "process". I allowed all my followers to follow my pampering day of getting all pretty and glam for the event. Yes, I was supposed to be in college but I felt I needed the day to just focus on the evening itself and I wanted to look extra glam.

Step 1: Hair

A few weeks ago, I booked an appointment using the app WhatSalon. WhatsSalon is an app used to book hair/beauty appointments without the hassle of making calls. Everything you have to do to make an appointment under your fingertips. If you download the app, use  the discount code SELFIEGIRL5 to receive €5 towards your appointment.

For using this app, I was treated to a free blowdry. When choosing a salon, I wanted to try somewhere different. I heard great things about Aviary Lane and I gave it a go! I LOVED my final look so then I decided I would go back to get my hair done for the awards. I booked in with the renowned hair stylist Matthew "Glam" Feeney.  I was very happy with how it turned out as he completely transformed me. As Matthew said he "cemented" my hair with hairspray before I left to ensure the hair would stay as my hair is so thick and heavy. It's safe to say, I will definatley return back to Aviary Lane. The whole team were so friendly and full of chats and of course are amazing hair stylists.

Step 2: Nails

For the past few years, I never when to beauticians/nail bars to get my nails done. I always thought it was something I like doing myself in my own time. In the past few months however, Tropical Popical have been doing nails for attendees which I loved. Then in August I did a very exciting project with them and Frockadvisor and I got on so well with the girls, I decided to book an appointment. Since, then I have been going there for my Gelish nails. For the event, as I was wearing green and I knew I would wear a Red lip, we kept things pretty simple with a maroon red and obviously a bit of sparkle- just because!

Kelly "Let's try some laughing shots" and here is the result- GAS!

Step 3: Makeup

I attended the Debenhams event two days before the awards. Here, I met Niall who is the Manager of YSL in Blanchardstown Centre. He was applying some of the latest YSL products on me and I really do like the products. Although as you know, the products are way above my budget, however they are incredible products so I would recommend them if you wanted to invest, or even treat yourself. I was then delighted when I made an appointment with him to have my makeup done for the awards. Niall did a fantastic job with my makeup from the beaming highlighter to the bold red lip. He ensured me my makeup wouldn't budge all night and it didn't- that's how amazing the products are. If you are ever around the area, pop in and say hi. He is a very friendly guy to approach and will always make sure you leave the stand with a big smile on your face.

Step 4: Outfit

I got SO many questions about my jumpsuit that I wore. I surprisingly bought it Forever 21 when I was over in London. It had been sitting in my wardrobe since September, waiting to be worn. I was saving it for a special glam night and the awards seemed perfect. I know what you're thinking, can you buy it? YES! Click here for the jumpsuit for only €28. I wore my Miss Selfridge Beige and White Heels which I bought during the Summer and I always wear them when I am going out- super comfy! I picked up my bag in Penney's earlier that day. It has 3 compartments and even though it looks small, it fits so much!

I want to thank Aviary Lane, Tropical Popical, Niall from YSL and Kelly Donegan(my incredible photographer) for making me look so glamourous. I was speechless looking in the mirror that evening, I didn't believe it was me.

I also want to thank every single one of you that voted, tweeted, texted or supported in any way in the lead up to the Blog Awards. I can't describe the amount of love I received over the past few months. I am so grateful you are on this journey with me.

If you're not sick of seeing my face, here are more shots by Kelly Donegean
