The Heartbreak Series: Single in the Festive Season

"Single bells, single all the way"

This post will hopefully put a smile on some of your faces. I'm going to keep it funny and happy as possible. It is slightly sad being single at this particular time of year- lets not think of Valentine Day just yet! But, its actually not a bad thing. This is my first time single for Christmas in a few years. It's weird, but I'm actually doing a lot better than I thought I would be. I'm going to give you some reasons to be happy to be single this Christmas.

1. Saving Money

I'm sorry, but the main reason I'm happy to be single this Christmas is that I'm saving money. I've been thinking about this November. I usually do spoil my other half at Christmas. But, this year I get to save that money and buy more presents for me! Who doesn't love spoiling themselves?

2. Hassle Free

You know when the family gets together, they always ask about your boyfriend or girlfriend? Sometimes it's not something you want to talk about with family members, especially if you don't see them that often. Well,  if you're single, they most likely won't hassle you that much asking about the other half more than asking about you. Also, you can you don't have to meet any parents too, so you're avoiding all those awkward family moments.

3. Around the Corner

One great thing about single is that you never know what's around the corner. It's fun, the whole mystery of not knowing what's around the corner. But, when the new year does approach, you can decide to do some new things and change your life up a bit. By doing this, it can open you to a new pool of people. You never know what can come your way. Just stay positive and hopeful, it'll all be worth it when the next person does come.

4. More Time

Spending Christmas with all those around you is tough as it is, trying to squeeze in everyone in the little time you have off from work/college. When you don't have a partner, you have more time to see your friends or family. Or else, you've more time to spend by yourself. I plan on spending as much time as I can by myself as it's important to wind down from the past hectic few weeks.

5. No Fall Outs

There has been research into when couples tend to break up. One of the highest peak times when people break up is around Christmas time. Isn't that crazy? Although it is supposed to be a relaxing and loving time, it can be very stressful coming up to the holidays. There can be many factors that can cause this like making plans together and apart, buying gifts for each other and the in-laws. When you're single, you can avoid feeling all this stress. As Cosmopolitan say "If you really want a man get one in the January sales – there will be plenty going spare after the festive fall-out!"

6. Time to Mingle and be Merry

Christmas is a time where you get to go out, a lot! It's a fun time of year when everyone around you, everywhere you go is on a buzz from the christmas joy all around. You know an an excuse to go out and drink, because it's Christmas. Whether it be out with the family or with your friends, you always make "friends". Some of us might remember how fun it is "spotting the talent" when you're out. When you're single, you can not only look, but you can also mingle with the other singles.

7. Holiday Dates

Some singletons might tend to hibernate and keep quiet about their relationship status while all the couples in the world seem to make their statuses known to everyone. There is nothing wrong with being single, at all, regardless of what time of year it is. Whereas there might be people like me who pretty open about being single and doesn't affect them at all. Holiday dates are perfect opportunities to meet people who are emotionally open and available. Even though two people who go on a date might not technically be "together", its a chance to meet someone new and create a spark. There isn't any commitments with these dates, so you can go on as many as you want!

Now do you believe me? There are perks to being single at Christmas. Yes, sometimes we'll miss the cuddle, but thankfully our pets have no choice, but to cuddle us!

Happy Christmas Singletons!

                                                           Stay tuned for more chaos,

JB
