"My ultimate goal is to be better than yesterday"
Well, hello there! Long time, no talk. I can't believe how long it's been since my last post! But anyway, let's get back to this post because I'll end up rambling. So, if you're like me, and you're letting January 2018 be a trial month for this year, then this blog post is for you. January Blues were in full motion this year and I said goodbye to January a few weeks ago and I started February afresh with a better & clear mind and some goals set. So, I thought I'd share these goals/changes I want to do this year. Some of these are generic and some are personal to me so you may or may not like to take these on yourself. But, hopefully, they might give you some information if you're looking to set some goals for this year!
Let's begin!
1. Save
Saving is probably the hardest task I've set myself this year. I've starting properly saving in December once I had all my Christmas shopping complete. I've been very strict on myself with saving and I'm no longer spending lots of money on silly and unnecessary things. So really, I've become a lot smarter with my money. I think I might share a post on this, what do you think?2. Travel.
I plan to travel more this year (like everyone). Last year, I was lucky to visit Riga & Albufeira for short holidays. But this year, I plan to do more (hence the saving). Where to you ask? Well, I've a few ideas but I'll have to see where my heart takes me.3. Think Happier
This is an ongoing thing for me, probably in the past 3 or 4 years, I think. I always want to try and be more optimistic when it comes to all elements of my life. I'm quite pessimistic and always think of the bad or negative in any situation. But, I'm going to try and start thinking of the positives in life and let that motivate me instead of the negatives bringing me down.4. Let it out
I'm quite a proud person and try not to let things affect me. I can come across as either a cold person or an overly outgoing person. To be honest, it depends on my mood and what's going on in my life. When I'm angry or down, I try to be proud and keep it to myself and not tell anyone. But, I've learned that it's worse to keep all these emotions all bottled up. If you want to cry, cry! If you want to laugh, laugh! Just let it out.5. Wake up earlier
Like everyone, I'm in a serious relationship with my bed. Like, forget boys, my bed is better! But, I want to try and get better at waking up earlier and making the most of the morning and setting myself for the day. I've got into a bad habit of leaving everything to the last minute and rushing around in the morning so I can spend as much time as possible in bed. But, this will change, soon.6. Take more baths
Who doesn't love having a bubble bath & a glass of wine? I think I need to take advantage of having a bath in my house and start taking more baths, they're so relaxing and you can just lay there and chill.7. Me Time
I was quite good for this in 2017 but I do want to improve on "me time". My "me time" was always just me on my phone on my bed. But really, I'm not on my own as I'm texting, checking social media etc. So, I want to try & get into the habit of getting off my phone for an hour, or even a half hour to start and just literally mediate, write a diary or anything without technology.8. Empower Others
One thing I've got the habit into since I came back from my social media break, is empowering others. I try not to get caught up scrolling for hours on social media anymore. But, I try to spend 10 minutes of every day, scrolling through my Instagram feed and commenting on as many pictures I can of people I follow, often just complimenting them. I love receiving compliments, who doesn't? It's just something small, could really make someone's day & I feel good after it.9. Reach Out
Again, following on from me being proud- I hate reaching out. As my mental health has been bad, I have always been bad for reaching out to friends or family or anyone to tell them how I feel as I feel weak asking for help. However, I'm still learning, but it is more of a sign of strength to reach out if you're feeling down. So, don't be afraid to text or call someone if you need to talk to anyone, there is always someone there.10. Take more pictures
Now, I'm not talking selfies, but I want to take more photos. I had a look at my phone the other day and I feel like I didn't get to capture how amazing my 2017 was and I feel I missed out. So, wherever you are, just take a few snaps, you'll really appreciate them and it's so nice to look back on memories.11. Dance
If you didn't know, I use to dance professionally for over 10 years in Hip-Hop, Salsa and other styles. But sadly, college came my priority and I haven't got back into it since. I am making it my mission to get back dancing because it's something to do in the evenings and it brought me so much happiness. Have an old hobby you'd like to take back up? There is no time like the present!
12. Honesty
I've always been quite an honest person in general. I try to be as honest as I can to anyone and in any situation. But, sometimes, I can lie or pretend like everything is ok. But, I do want to improve my honesty in all elements of my life.13. Stress Less
In work, they call me Stressica - get it? Yes, I'm one big ball of stress! It's an on-going dilemma, but I do want to get better at controlling my stress and not being such a big worrier!14. Drop a bad habit
I've no idea what this is yet, but as I'm taking up a lot of things, I need to get rid of a bad habit. What's springing to mind right now is that I could curse less- I'm not PG at all when I talk and it's just not attractive!15. Eat Healthier
I will never change my diet- I love chocolate and bread way too much. But, I want to make small but effective changes to my diet. For example, for the past few days, I've started eating fruit every day. I used to eat fruit probably one every few weeks. But, with this little change, it's making me feel so much better. I'll make more changes over time, but I'm starting small!16. Confidence
As Demi Lovato saying "what's wrong with being confident?". You're probably thinking that I do come across confident already but I can be really shy when I want to be (ok my friends might disagree). But, in some elements of my life, I try to put myself down but I need to change this and not worry what others think and if I know I'm good at something or if I look good, I'll start to say or embrace it! Confidence is sexy, wouldn't you agree?17. Track commitments
One app I cannot live without it Doozy. It's a checklist app and it's so simple & easy to use. This is what I use as my diary as I can cross things off as I go. I think we can all get caught up in life and just agree to lots of things and then you could end up clashing different commitments, meetings or occasions. I need to start managing my time properly and spread things outs.18. Gratitude
Life is so short, everything can change in the blink of an eye. Every morning and night, you should reflect and be thankful for everything in your life. There are so many good things about you, your life and the world that we might take for granted.
Happy goal setting!
