Irish Beauty Show 2014

Better late than never!

Last month, I was scrolling through my Twitter news-feed when I noticed something about a beauty show. Immediate, i investigated and searched on Google. Turns out, the Irish Beauty show has been running for many years by the Irish Beauty Magazine. How I am only hearing about this now. When I read through the top brands that were going to attend this event, I was in awe and simply had to register for a ticket. Within two weeks, my fast track badge arrived in the post. I have attended a lot of events and from an Event Management perspective, I wanted to see how such an event is ran.

The show was strictly trade only, however eager make up lovers couldn't resist by trying to get in( me being one of them). I waited a whole, long and dragged out month for the 9th March to arrive. And when that day finally came, I never jumped so fast out of my bed. I curled my hair, took great care and patience with my make up and put on one of my favourite outfits at the moment. I hoped onto the bus and it was safe to say there were a lot of young women who I could tell were attending the event too. It must have been funny to see a bunch of stylish girls get off the bus all heading to the RDS. Once I arrived, I was stunned at the turn-out for a Sunday. I arrived at 12pm which seemed to be the busiest time. I walked into the front entrance and brochures and leaflets were shoved into my face. In my opinion, as much as you want to promote your business, this as a first impression can be a turn-off. I knew the stands I wanted to check out, but I was open to having a look around at the other stands to see what they offer.

The first stand I attended was Crown Brush. No words could describe how busy it was. There was queues of girls and women, pushing through, to get their hands on their amazing brushes and make-up products. Back in October, I ordered the Limited Edition “So Sue Me” brushes from Crown Brush so I know the great quality make up brushes they provided. I wanted to treat myself to their Concealer Palette, made famous by Ireland's most famous fashion and beauty blogger and also Crown Brush's Irish Ambassador, Suzanne Jackson. And to my luck, it was on offer. It was meant to be! I eventually got my hands on it, waiting impatiently in the queue. I also grabbed a few brushes and a make up brush cleaner. Suzanne, then arrives at the stand. Interviews took place and I could hear all the girls around me getting excited( myself being one of those girls). A queue then formed to get photographs with the famous blogger, getting time to chat to her and get tips. While this craziness was going on, I decided to have look around the exhibition hall.

From an events perspective, I feel the size of the venue was far too small. Majority of the time, it was crowded and it was hard to get down some of the aisles. For such a large and well known event, the organisers should consider moving to a larger venue so they can include more stand and where attendees can walk around freely.

Another stand that caught my eye was Black Canvas Cosmetics. I heard about them a few months ago, but the Irish Beauty Show re-tweeted their tweet, regarding who will be attending their stand including the beautiful Pippa O'Connor. The stand was jam packed with girls and women of all ages. They are very like Crown Brush, offering high quality brushes online. Unfortunately, the stand was far too busy for me to see their products. So I will check out their website and make a purchase.
It was a very successful and enjoyable day. I was delighted to meet so many people in the beauty industry. It was a different type of event but I loved it! I would love to attend next year, but I will be in a 6 month placement as part of college. If you are beauty lover or own a beauty salon, I would highly recommend attending to avail of such amazing offers and promoting Irish businesses.
