Throwback to... My Debs night

So for a lot of you lucky ladies, you have just finished your Leaving Cert exams and the next date you were looking forward to is your Debs( Prom for all those Americans). This post will cover my experience at my debs and my advice to having the best night ever.

Myself and Fionnuala Kennedy

For years when I was in secondary school(high school), I seen my friends and family members head off on what looked like the dream night. The girls would look drop dead gorgeous while the boys looked ever so handsome. I felt the night would change you forever because it was the start of your adulthood. I remember every day in my last year of school, it's all I thought about. I think at times I stressed out about the debs more than my actual exams! But finally my day came!

I also got to be a part of the Debs committee which involved many tasks to make sure the night would be enjoyed by all. As an aspiring event manager, I was getting a hands on experience at organising a live event!

August 28th 2012. This was the day where I would get my chance to shine and spend a night with all my year. I was so nervous the whole day, yet excited too. I would curious as to what people would think of my dress. At the 2012 Grammy awards, I was speechless when Carrie Underwood arrived on the red carpet. And once I saw it, I knew that was the dress for me. Thank you to top Irish Fashion Designer, Marian Murphy-Cooney for creating such a magnificent piece. She created it from scratch and I was so overwhelmed with the final result. She is now the Creative Director of The Design Atelier in Nenagh,Co. Tipperary. She has created many unique pieces for many customers around Ireland as well as many top Irish Celebrities including Lorraine Keane, Mandy Maher and Emma O'Driscoll. The fabric was even better than Carrie's, and I wouldn’t of looked to great if it was for Marian!

My hair was a simple ponytail, perfected by Katanya's Hair Studio. Again, I have been going here since I was a little girl for my colour and cuts or even just a blow-dry. The girls in there are nothing but friendly and I always know I'll be happy with the final result.

My house that evening was filled with friends and family and my mother prepared some light refreshments and drinks. I then went over to my school where there was a presentation made congratulating all students on finishing school. I was in awe to see all my fellow classmates all dolled up and looking so beautiful, such a change from the maroon uniform.

The night was an overwhelming and amazing night. It is hands down, one of the best nights of my life. I somehow lasted in my high heels the whole night and I danced my ass off!! There was drinks to be had, pictures to take and memories to throwback and laugh about. I was over the moon to create memories with such amazing girls. That night was the start of my new life as an adult. And now, its your turn!

Maybe a few drinks was had.....

Make the most of your night, chat to different people, roll in the memories and create new ones. This will be your last chance to share time with your whole year group. It has been an emotional and stressful year for you all, so cherish it. You are all now going your separate ways, going to college or maybe starting a job. You will be going different paths, but you might meet again. Even if you never got along with your whole year, just acknowledge the friends that were there for you and who you will continue being there for you.

Dancing the night away.

Its really time to let loose and just be excited about the next chapter in your life. Remember, you have the luxury to design your own life and follow the yellow brick road where ever you want to. Let your family and friends inspire, but let your heart make the decisions. If any of the girls from my year are ready this, firstly thanks for reading! And I hope you enjoyed the night as much as I did and I hope you are well!

My class group.

Enjoy your night!
Stay tuned for more chaos!
