One Republic - March 24th 2014

I would just like to start off, I am not a die-hard fan of One Republic but I must say after witnessing their epic performance, I haven’t stopped listening to them since. When One Republic first came out with the “Apologize”, I immediately didn’t like them. It just wasn’t my taste in music. But eventually, all their songs grew on me. “Counting Stars” really won me over and the album is amazing too. IF you like Kodaline or Mackelmore, you'll love One Republic!

So my friend Lisa and I arrived to the Olympia on Monday 24th March. We had a hard day after just handing in an assignment, so this was a well deserved treat. After having bought the tickets before Christmas, we assumed we bought the tickets for the Monday night, but we only realised when security informed us our tickets were for the Tuesday night show. Lisa and I both looked at each other, thinking how stupid we didn’t event look at the dates properly. To our luck, they did let us in.

The standing area was packed, and then to our back luck, everyone was taller than us. We were on our tippy-toes for the whole performance. But it was worth it. They stage was covered with a blank white sheet. They started playing music, lights were flashing. They opened up with “Don’t look down”. The atmosphere was incredible. Eventually, the sheet dropped at the crowd went wild.

They played a few of their well known hits like “Counting Stars” and “Stop and Stare”, but seeing as it was the “Native” world tour, they played songs off their new album. Songs like “Preacher” and “Secrets” are defiantly worth a listen. They have an incredible presence on stage and are not given enough credit for their amazing work. They have so much energy and passion, which is great to see at a concert. Lisa, being the big fan she is of them, went crazy for every song. I didn’t know much of their songs, but that didn’t matter. It was defiantly worth going to, and I would love to see them again!
