Last week with Jess

"Life has no remote, get up and change it yourself"

Happy Monday folks! It's probably been about a year since I did my last "This week" blog post. I feel that I should start doing it again, to keep you all updated on what I get up to each week. I will only post when I have content to write about. There is no point in me posting on a week where I did nothing but go to college. So, now let me take you back to last week and I will share with you all my highlights!

Last Sunday, the 27th of August, I had the pleasure of attending the Into the West Blogger Network(ITWBN) Afternoon Tea event. I was lucky enough to win tickets to this event a few weeks ago. ITWBN was set up by two women, Sinead and Saibh. The last time I seen the I promised I would attend their next event- so it was such luck that I won tickets! ITWBN was set up to bring Irish bloggers together and to feel a part of the Blogging family in Ireland. They show that there is room for everyone to blog in Ireland as everyone is so different. The event took place in the enchanting grounds of Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galway. The hotel hosted over 50 bloggers and they prepared a delicious and colourful Afternoon Tea for all of us. I also got to meet one of my favourite fashion bloggers, Erika Fox. It was great hearing her story of how she got to where she is now and how she became successful. I had so much fun meeting new bloggers who all have the desire to become great bloggers. It was great to be surrounded by bright and likeminded people. I cannot wait until the next event. If you are a blogger or looking to start blogging, join the ITWBN to get started!

Last Tuesday, I got a very exciting email from the Xposé team asking me to be on the show. Well, I ran around my kitchen a million times with excitement! I couldn't believe that little old me would be on the telly! I had two days to plan and get ready for shooting! But of course the big issue, what to wear? I want to thank the lovely people at Nine Crows for providing me with some pieces! The Floral Shirt and Sequin Top are both vintage pieces from the store! You can visit Nine Crows here or alternatively go in store as they are based on Ormond Quay in Dublin.

If my Tuesday couldn't get any better, it proved me wrong. While in the college library flicking between assignments and blog posts, I got another exciting email to say that Chaos wearing Lipgloss made it to the FINAL of the Blog Awards Ireland 2015. Me? A finalist? GAS! I couldn't believe my eyes! I was even amazed to get into the shortlist a few weeks ago, let alone the final. I am over the moon to be recognised as a Lifestyle blogger and that all my hard work has been noted. Some people don't get why I am obsessed with social media and why I do what I do everyday. My friends and family can sometimes see me stress over things and sometimes stress can be good. It's achievements like these that make me keep on going. Undoubtedly, I have had my thoughts on giving up the blog due to not having the time to dedicate. However, I know I can do this! I am after coming so far that I don't want to give up. For the person reading this, yes you, thank you. Thank you for reading my blog, whether you are new, or have followed for a while. I blog for myself, as I love sharing my thoughts and opinions with you all. But, my having readers that I know want me to keep blogging, that just makes me work harder. If you voted for Chaos wearing Lipgloss in the voting stage of the competition, thank you for taking the time to do that. I am now amongst 11 other fantastic bloggers. I am of course, going to stay positive in the hope that I can win.

So, on Thursday we were shooting for this segment in the beautiful Cliff Townhouse in Dublin. I was asked to be a part of a panel for a segment called "Trend Tackler". For those of you of who may or may not be familiar with this segment, it is an opportunity for a stylist to create different looks and where the panel judge the outfits. The outfits are usually put together based on current trends. The panel then discuss what they do and do not like about the outfit and give it a thumbs up or down. I had so much fun shooting this and I also got to meet so incredible ladies including fashion blogger Emma Murray from The Fashion Chair. It was great meeting such like minded people who are so into fashion and very honest! When this segment goes live, I will of course let you know across my social media, so stay tuned!

The Xposé fun then continued to that evening as I attend the Zahra Media Groups' 12 Birthday in the offices in Greystones,Wicklow. Thank you to the Xposé Magazine team for inviting me to celebrate the very special night. Zahra publish many magazines including Easy Food Magazine, Easy Partnering Magazine and of course, Xposé! It was great meeting some of the team and fellow bloggers too. I had so much fun as I was spoiled with such amazing food, I got my "nails did" by Tropical Popical and pretty much ate all the nibbles I could get my hands on! I am looking forward to their next birthday and I wish all the hard workers there the best for the next year!

Last week I was also contact by an amazing online website who wanted to feature me for a challenge! I unfortunately can't tell you any details write now! I am currently writing a blog post about it that I hope to have live Monday or Tuesday. Everything is top secret until they let me know I can tell you all! It is VERY exciting and I am truly honoured they asked me to be a part of this feature!

I know some of you might wonder if I went to college in the middle of all this? I did! College does come first to me as I am in my final year. I really want to give this year all my energy. However, the blog really has taken off so much in the past two months. With some opportunities, I just can't say no. From last week, I've learned that time management is important. College and the blog are priorities, but so are family and friends. Always make time to enjoy yourself and have an aul glass of wine!

Stay tuned for more chaos,

JB
