When my mam walked in! |

This post is long overdue but I'm really excited to share with you a special night for my family and I. As I was coming close to finishing my course a few months ago, I wanted to do something special for my parents 25th wedding anniversary in May. My dad asked me back in March if I was secretly planning anything as he did suspect it. So, for two months, myself, my sister Alexa and my dad kept this surprise party a secret from my mam.
You know how Irish mother think they know everything and that you can't keep a secret from the,? Well, that's exactly what my mam is like. I still don't know, to this day, how I didn't let it slip because I usually tell her everything as we are really close. The month of May was just a pretty stressful and overwhelming month as I was finishing my final year of college, preparing for exams with the party planning on top of it all. Now I look back and think what a unicorn I am that I made it out of May alive.
Ok, now back to the party. I invited over 80 guests including family and friends and we were blessed to have such a great crowd on the night. My dad insisted on a theme, so we agreed "Black and White" was a simple theme because everyone is most likely to have those colours already in their wardrobe.
I will admit, I did leave a few things to the last minute, but with the help of certain companies, they made my life so much easier. May is called "May Madness" for a reason with so many communions, confirmations and weddings happening. I realised just a week and a half before the party that I had no cake. You can imagine the amount of phone calls were made and how people thought I was crazy. But, The Natural Bakery came to the rescue! I found an image of the cake I would like online, in the hope that they would create something similar and they did. I was speechless when I saw the cake and the cute cupcakes when I went to collect them in their Naas Branch. I couldn't of asked for anything more perfect & it went down a treat with our guests.

What major element do you need to have an amazing party? Decorations! I turned to Project Party who provide "Pinterst like" decorations at reasonable prices. As it was my parents Silver Wedding Anniversary celebration, I wanted all the decorations to be silver. I was lucky to receive a white & silver guestbook, balloons spelling out "love", a Mr & Mrs Banner & confetti! All the decorations just made the room look so different. I'm also so glad to have the Guestbook, so we can look back on all the people that came to spend the night with us!
I also got a personalised balloon at the very last minute from The Fun Place for €15. The staff in there were so helpful and made sure I was 100% happy when I was leaving the shop. I love anything personalised so this balloon was just a perfect touch!
