Selfie Girls Products of the year

"I like romantic walks to the makeup aisle"

As a beauty blogger, I have tried out so many products this year. I was very lucky to be gifted some incredible products that I now use continuously. So, I've compiled a list of products that I loved this year and I will more than likely continue to use. I would recommend trying any of these products if you are interested in trying them. The brands I have mentioned are affordable and great quality brands, some new and all time favourite brands of mine. Hopefully, they might become your favourites too!

Primer: Flormar Illuminating Primer Makeup Base

I have been using this primer everyday for the past two months and I can't get over how effective it is. As I use it before I put on my makeup, its creates a refreshing, clean feeling before applying the rest of my makeup. Once applied, my makeup doesn't budge for the day.

Concealer: Flormar Perfect Coverage Concealer

The shade I have is slightly lighter so I use it mainly to cover spots during the day or to hide the bag under my eyes. It's amazing what this concealer can do!

Setting Spray: Fuschia Setting Spray

If you suffer from makeup slipping, or melting, off your face during the day, you need to try this Setting Spray. I am a firm believer in using primers and setting sprays when I'm applying my makeup. I have tried different setting sprays but this setting spray has been the best for my makeup. What I also love about this product is that it is a long-lasting product. For such a great price and I usually use 3 spritz'. So, I know it won't be running out anytime soon as it is a large bottle.

Daytime Foundation: Fuschia Perfect Skin Foundation

I've been obsessed with this foundation when I first got it at the Irish Beauty Show earlier this year. I just love foundations like this that don't have that "caked" feeling where you feel like you have a thick and heavy layer of makeup on your face. The coverage is incredible and doesn't slip on your face throughout the day.

Nighttime Foundation: Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

This has been one of my favourite foundations I have ever tried. The foundation is so light and weightless, yet such incredible coverage. Again, like Fuschia, it doesn't have that "caked" feeling as its such an silk-like feeling application.

Mascara: Benefit "They're Real" Mascara

Out of all the makeup products I use, its is very hard to convince me to try a new mascara. However, Benefit have changed me. I got gifted the "They're Real" mascara and I use it everyday, it creates the perfect curl and lift that I always desire. Before applying mascara, I use the "They're Real" Tinted Primer Mascara (didn't even know this type of products ever existed). I have also been using this everyday before applying mascara and I haven't looked back since. It has helped with the growth and length of my lashes. They are a must try for 2016!

Eyeshadows: Urban Decay

I have become really into eyeshadows and I used to always think the MAC eyeshadows were unbeatable. However, after trying out various Urban Decay eyeshadows in the last few months of 2015, they are incredible. I can't get over the pigment of their eyeshadows, all you need is a little dab on your brush for a lot of coverage on the eye. Gwen Stefani is the latest collaboration with Urban Decay and this palette is incredible. The colours and pigments are fantastic. A perfect gift to treat yourself to this year.

Eyeshadow Palette: Sleek Makeup i-Divine Arabian Nights

In relation to eyeshadows, I've also been loving the Sleek Makeup range. They have various eyeshadow palettes to suit different styles at affordable prices. These are ideal for on-the-go as they usually have 12 colours in one palette.

Unfortunately, this was limited edition in 2015. However, check out other incredible palettes from Sleek Makeup here

Lipgloss: Essence XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss

Even though I am "Chaos wearing Lipgloss", I was never really that interested in lipglosses. However, I tried different lipglosses in 2015, most of them being from Essence. What I love about Essence is that it's pretty much available in any chemist nationwide (in Ireland) and the around the world. But also, its very affordable, suiting a lot of budgets even if you're a student like me.

My favourite shade is "Taste the Sweets"

Lipsticks: Wet n Wild Megalast

My heart was stolen earlier this year by Wet n Wild. I have about 4 or 5 of their lipsticks and I haven't looked back. At the moment, they are the only lipsticks I wear as they are long lasting and they do have a slight gloss, so therefore not drying out the lips. Below, are the few shades that I have been loving and will keep loving.

Blusher: Isa Dora Face Sculptor

if you've been following me since last year, you will know this product is my holy grail. I always bring this with me when I'm on the go as it's 3 products in one. The shade I use is 01 Warm Peach which is below is a light subtle pink, ideal for a daytime look.

Highlighter: Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette

I didn't realise how much I loved highlighters until 2015. During the day, I use the highlighter in the Isa Dora Face Sculptor (above). However, when I want to shine like diamonds, I turn to the Sleek Makeup Solstice palette (below). It has four beaming bright colours to suit different looks. Instead of going for a traditional gold glow, you can choose for a hint of pink, purple or orange.

Bronzer: Isa Dora Face Sculptor

I was lucky to get gifted one of the latest face sculptors in 2015. Below there is a Matt Bronzer, Glow Bronzer and a Blush all in one product. I use the Matt Bronzer for a strong contour look and the glow for a more subtle bronze contour. The blusher in this product is a lot more pigmented than the other Face Sculptor previously mentioned. So, therefore this would be more suitable for night-time looks.

Shade: 10 Sun Glow

Brow Product: Sleek Makeup Brow Perfecter Gel

I have tried so long to find the perfect product to fill in my brows as they are quite thick. I have tried pencils and eyeshadows but they didn't suit me. However, I tried this brown gel earlier in 2015 and I couldn't recommend it more. I've realised gel suits my eyebrows as the gel sticks and is long lasting. What I particularly love about this product is that it a brush application is used so you can tidy the brows whilst applying the product. The shade I use is Light Brown is which close to my natural colour.

I didn't try that much new products last year, even though I know I have so many to go through.  However, if I did a "Products of the year" post for 2014, the products featured would be the same products I used for years. So, I liked that I did try new products that suited me. Makeup is supposed to be experimental, not everything suits everyone. However, it can't hurt to try.

Happy Shopping Beauties!
I will try to do more beauty posts in 2016

Stay tuned for more chaos,

Jess X
